I just get the samsung tab p1000, it is rooted and use cyanogen 9 with ICS 4.0.4 and get the sim to test their UMB,
I install skype on the tablet, get the data and proxydroid setup as usual,
go to the site call ring2me.com and get a local number in toronto for free.
I setup a bluetooth headset and try to set the ringtone to the headset, this part IS NOT WORKING.
the call did route thur and I can hear the audio in the headset too. This part is good.
I don't know too much about the Profile in the setting page, if someone has test it more please share how I can do the stuff like this:
get the ring only in the bluetooth headset?
or just get the tablet to vibrate?
has some way to make the silent mode nice and easy?
if all this can be done, this is a good and cheap way to replace the phone, since I can use textplus for SMS,
skype to receive the call, then use skype account to pay for the local call by $2.99/month, if we use SO rate, can only call for 12 min.
but the downside from what I tested ring2me is not very stable, is that my tablet problem or their site, need to do more test.
thanks for the sharing in advance.

Isn't that the reason SO is not suitable for VOIP?
SO UMB is fine for packet data, where latency isn't an issue. Such as maps, or email, or even youtube, netflix should you decide to step out of bounds, but there isn't such a thing called 'buffering' in voice calls.
With skype, how do you get people to call you? Do you have a canadian skiype in number?

so far from my testing, dell voice is not using port 80 and 443, it cannot go thru the UMB limit, it will cut off all other ports.
I guess the whole idea is to avoid user like us to bypass the cell phone charge, if they allow it, what the point to sell value plan.
but if they charge reasonable extra for full data, I will take it, this case the dell voice and many other app can be running without using the proxy server,
proxy is not a good idea for me, since it take up a lot more power from the battery, my p1000, cannot whole day without charge again. but most smartphone are design for at least one day operation.
anyone has good app for power management to solve this problem?
and good app to kill the app that is not important to make most ram available?
thanks.
