Get a new number for my account after current number ported out | Phone/Device Issues and Features | Consumer forum

I have an active Speakout account using my son's number. He just returned from UK and wants his number back. I think all my account balance will be forfeited once the number is ported out. If I get a new number before the porting, he will lose his number. Is there anyway to do this without losing the account balance and the current number?
