noop. what you can use are things like nimbuzz(and a few others) which actually proxy via their server(i.e. your password is naked to them). visually

your phone ----- nimbuzz server(passing login/password via 80/443) ------ google talk(xmpp 5222/5223)

Thanks, but is there any setting you have to change to get it to work on Nimbuzz? Gchat works fine on wifi but when I switch to data it won't log in.

know of any other apps that work?

google chat needs port 5222/5223 which UMB blocks. You can only use relay like nimbuzz or if you are on android, autoproxy/proxydroid.

there is a number of these http based proxy im app like nimbuzz which only goes through 80/443
