I am looking for one of these phones and I am interested in some pieces of information that can help me understand better if this one can work on the SO network.
Also I am looking to use the UMB, if that is compatible with this type of phone. If somebody already tried this type of phone successfully on SO network, sharing the experience would be appreciated.
Thank you for all your replies.
Cheers

Thank you bridonca, I was having the same thought about the specs.
Trying to decide if it's better on 2y agreement with Fido, on a $40/month and $50 down. They also double everything as minutes, text on this promotion. There is also an activation fee, deducted in the very first month bill, I think. I will end up with a $1010/2y and a good plan I think, or to go with the prepaid for $550 + $50 down and to unlock it after and swap for the SO with data, not being stuck with Fido for 2y. But this require to unlock it and I am not sure if can be done easily and cheap...also not sure if you compare the Fido plan for $40 with the $10 data from SO/ month if are the same bells & whistles?!
On another hand the One S comes with micro SIM, compared with the regular SO SIM card..., how can I overcome this one, in order to use my SO SIM?
Thank you all for your input.
Cheers.

So it is going to cost you $80 to lock yourself into a 2 year contract, and you get a mediocre phone out of the deal? I think it would be wiser if you shopped around a little more.
You can get decent prepaid phones for less than $150, and if you are patient, you can get one for less than $80. Then there is kijiji. There are countless good used phone people want to unload. Do not be in a rush when it comes to buying a phone. And do your homework. Find out ahead of time if the phone you want to buy can be unlocked and for how much, and add that to your calculation. You will pay dearly for your haste otherwise.
You missed out on a really good promotions from the carriers last month. They were offering the works, tons of minutes, unlimited incoming, Canada wide, 6 GB pf data, you name it, for around $60. These type of offers will come up again. You just need to be ready though. Get a phone you like, buy it outright, unlock it, and wait for a month to month offer you like. In the mean time, buy a Speakout SIM and airtime for $35, set up UMB, and if you can live with the limitations of UMB, you really do not need to pay more for a plan.
As for micro SIMs, do not play that game if you do not need to. You can cut down a Speakout SIM to make it a micro SIM, but it is preferable just to buy a phone that uses a standard SIM card.

Thanks bridonca, for all the input. I am not decided yet, even I found out that Costco is offering the same phone in the following conditions:
- cost of the phone is $49.99, with Fido agreement for 2 years, on $40/month doubling minutes, etc.
- Costco offer $100 Cash Cards, so you end up with + $50;
- activation fee is waived;
- the first month is free;
- courtesy of Costco they offer a 3 in 1 charger (car charger) in addition to original HTC package;
So the deal is much better than the Fido carries now. I assumed there must be even better plans compared with this one, unlocking the phone still apply (not sure if the websites that are advertising unlocking for $7 - $15, are the real deal or not...) and the micro SIM issues that are a setback, all of them.
I will see later on, which way I am going to decide. Thanks for all your good thoughts/advises.
Cheers.
