Hi, wondering if anyone can help with this, I have a few iphones which all are on the speakout network & work great - or did on the 3G until a few weeks ago. I get `call failed`and no ring if I try to dial out on 3G. Switch it to edge & no problem dialling out. Anyone have a suggestion, much appreciated. 3G is running 6 firmware & 3gs 4.. doesnt seem to matter..

Sorry not sure what "firmware 6" is? I assume the 3G is on OS3 and the 3Gs is on OS4?

Have you tried putting the SIM from the 3GS in to the 3G to see if you get the same results? Are they both Rogers phones or has either of them been unlocked? Are you using the same profile for both? Have you tried a hard reset (hold power and home buttons until you see the apple startup screen)?

My iPhone 3G does not call out on 3G, only on edge. Strange thing is on web browsing it will work on 3G, but can't make any calls untill I turn 3G off.

Helps to know details. Where are you located? OS? Are you Jailbroken and unlocked, factory unlocked or Rogers phone? Have you tried to reset? Have you tried a restore? Have you tried all three proxies?

Thanks for the help with this. All three proxies? only one I'm using from the iphone configuration utility for my data which works prefect on 3G is:

goam
wapuser1
wap
10.128.1.69

Its hit & miss to incoming calls & texts work on 3g & about 70% of the time I can make outgoing calls, its only sometimes while attempting outgoing call that i get the "call failed" - then switching to Edge works to make the outbound call.
Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

There are actually three usable profiles. You can add them all in the iphone configuration utility but you can only put one on your phone at a time.

Apn: goam.com
Username: wapuser1
Password: wap
Proxy IP: 208.200.067.150
Port: 80

Apn: goam.com
Username: wapuser1
Password: wap
Proxy IP: 172.025.000.107
Port: 80

Apn: goam.com
Username: wapuser1
Password: wap
Proxy IP: 10.128.1.69
Port: 80

Try the other two and see if it makes a difference.

I have been making calls on my 3GS on 3G since about 3 days after 3G showed up on the Speakout network. Initially, like you I had to switch to 2G to make calls, but that changed quickly. I am in the Toronto area, where abouts are you from?

I'm in the Burlington area, but I've only tried the 3G from my house where if 3G is on, the wi-fi works, but calls fail. Maybe I'm in a weak signal area.

For me, it's hit and miss. Mississauga seems to work always. In Toronto, there are spots when I have to switch to edge.

I tried 3G again, and couldn't make any calls (with three bars showing). I then tried to call the cell from my house and it went through no problem....so seems for now I can't make calls but I can receive with 3G on.

Same here. I can always receive calls but calling out on 3G gets error "call failed".
I haven't tried the other 2 configurations yet.

Roch, flyb. we all have the same issue with the call failed thing. I will try the other profiles & post results. Thanks for all the feedback, looks like we might get this solved.

Very odd. Since the 3G switch, I haven't had an issue making calls anywhere from Toronto to Ajax. I really don't make a lot of calls though, but when I do its always worked. If your phone is sometimes able to call on 3G I would highly suspect that its a Speakout issue and aside from trying the various proxies there really isn't much you can do about it.

Hi, same problem here with my Android Captivate.

In Etobicoke, anywhere you go, you are not able to make outgoing call through 3G/4G. You can only make outgoing call with E. You can receive call and text on 3G/4G. You can use the ULB on 3G without any issue.

In Markham, there is no issue.

In downtown Toronto, there is no issue.

There is some issue on Speakout side with its switches and proxies.

Nothing you can do on your phone side other than switch over to E when in area with issues.
