So I made my decision between Telus or Speakout and I have decided to go with Speakout.

Some concerns I have are:

How do I get youtube to work?
How come IM+ stays on 'connecting' for a long time?
How do I get mail to work?

I know with telus, all of this works.

You might have wanted to read a little more before making your decision. YouTube does work, but only for very short videos. Third party IM apps are useless as push notification don't work on speakout. As for mail, gmail is the only service that works but you need to set it up as an exchange account.

Jailbreak hack are of no use as the problem lies with Rogers proxy on Speakout's data service. I haven't found any apps that work decently for SMS, so I suggest you upgrade to SO's 2500 text plan if you plan on doing a lot of texting. if you also want to do a lot of voice calling, you may want to look at the talk/data/text bundle. Another option would be to use the President's Choice service as their data service (Bell) is not hampered by a proxy.

That's for your help andreww. If you don't mind, would you be able to link me to President's Choice Data plan? I can only find the unlimted internet browsing for non-smartphones, would this be it?

With PC pay and talk the internet add on is 25 cents per day. You can find the details here...

From what I have read, if you buy a PC sim, activate the data, and add the correct profile to your phone, you will get unrestricted 3G data. I've never used it so your results may vary. Also remember that PC runs on Bell so you will need and unlocked or Bell phone.
