It's only a matter of time before you guys screw UMB up. There is no SpeakOut "data plan". It is Unlimited Mobile Browsing. If you can afford $700 for a bloody iPhone then you can afford to go elsewhere and get a real data plan and not screw up SpeakOut's excellent $10 UMB plan. Here's hoping Rogers comes up with a way to stiff you guys without knocking the rest of us, who comply with the plan rules, out of business.

I think there is no reason to worry. SO knows exactly what it does and how it limits the services that one can use through port 80, besides it is just the low budget chapter of Rogers, so certainly no harm done there!

And yes, I can afford a $900 iPhone but I reject having a rip-off contract with one of the big three until prices and contract lengths come down to a more reasonable number! Knowing some European telecoms prices from own experience, it is unbelievable to me that the majority of Canadians dont question the current prices and t&c more and just pays up. My last contract in UK (set up 2 years ago) was for 1GB of data, 1000 text and 3000 minutes (or something ridiculous) and I paid the equivalent of $45 and a one-off fee of about $300 for an iPhone 4 32GB!

So I can only hope that more competition (not just in telecoms but also internet, cable tv and flights) regulates the market over here for the good of the consumers!

And until then I will remain a very happy SO customer …

when I see those posts on RFD about marvellous deals(and how thankful they are) people get from the big three retention department, I have the feeling that Stockholm Syndrome is a common thing among canadian mobile users

This might have been said already please consider it a confirmation.

I got my iphone 5 yesterday. I got a sim card from 7-11 and a nano sim cutter from amazon.ca The cutter worked great and the card fit in the phone. The card was a little thick but I used my fingernail to stuff it in. I'm a little afraid that I wouldn't be able to take it out again but hey the phone works.

I used the instructions on how to set up a 4g phone and it works the same for the 5g. Browsing works great a long with a few apps, I haven't tested them all but I don't care, I usually only use these apps with wifi.

Okay I just checked and my sim card is stuck in the phone but I'm sure that with a little work I can get it out again. I'm going to get some 500 grit sandpaper to reduce the size.

The only problem I had in the set up is speakout7eleven.ca website was down last night and today but It's back up now so have fun setting up your phone.

Hi, I am surprised to hear this. I used a cutter to cut down a US T-Mob SIM and didn't sand it down and had no problems. There is however a little force needed anyway to get the SIM card tray out whatever card you have in there, so unless it wasn't in there correctly in the first place, you should be able to get it out with a little force.

After I posted I went back to my iphone and wiggled the sim card tray and finally got it out. Your right it's just in there really tight.
