Heads up to any users who haven't updated to the newest Facebook app (v5.4, released Jan 28) for iOS - you may want to consider staying at your current version, if you enjoy using it over Speakout data.

After upgrading to the current version, I can no longer receive timeline updates over Speakout data (only wifi). I'm going to try playing around with wireshark tonight to see what new call has been introduced.

I noticed the same thing. Its super slow in updating the timeline on FB. It used to update within seconds, now it takes minutes.

P.S. This is on iOS

If you backed up your apps on you PC with itunes, don't sync with the new version, you can put back the old version.

I keep a backup folder of all synced apps before each update for this reason.

If you havent already synced, then simply delete the FB app from your phone before you plug it in. Then when connected to iTunes, select your phone and its apps tab. Select the FB app and it should add the one that is on your computer (provided you had previously backed it up and hadn't backed it up since you upgraded the app.)

Edit:- The following solution was temporary. Back to being superslow and never updating on Speakout.
-------------------
I did not have a backup on iTunes so guys..here is what I did to get it working again.

Delete the Facebook app from iPhone
Reboot the phone
Go to App Store and Install Facebook App(ver 5.4.2)

That's it. It starts working again. And its fast as before.

I'm not sure if FB app is totally blocked because I can still get to load the pages occassionally. But it's super slow. I'm using Iphone and it shows the loading icon on upper right corner.

I fixed this by jailbreaking and downloading an older version of the app.

If you have updated the version that is in your iTunes app, you will not be able to go back. If you only updated the app on your phone, delete it from the phone, then plug in to itunes and tell it to reinstall facebook.

Jailbreaking makes no difference.

If you have a mac with time machine backups just find the folder that has the itunes app backups in it, delete facebook from your itunes, restore the old ipa to your desktop and then drag it into itunes.

The same goes with Version 5.5 of the Facebook IOS App (the latest).

Have been using the mobile web version with either Chrome or Safari when I am on Speakout UMB. The mobile web version works pretty good IMO.

Respectfully disagree. Jailbreaking makes it easier to install any older version. e.g. in vShare, search for "Facebook", then into the application profile, click "History" to download any previous version.
