Iphone work with Speakout network?

I am looking at buying an iphone or a smartphone for use with Speakout. What should I watch out for?
Bad experiences?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can use iPhone 2G, 3GS or iPhone 4, but not the 3G version. The 3G will work for basic phone features, but you won't get data to work.
Downside
- Mail app doesn't work over data (I use webmail through Safari)
- Data can be slow sometimes (especially in the downtown core of Toronto)
Upside
-Extremely affordable
-No contracts
-Anonymity (even Speakout has no idea who you are)
-365 day expiry on phone cards
