I recently bought a Nokia 2720 from 7-11. I am planning on travelling to the United States, so I will be swapping the SIM card (for an AT&T SIM) when I get there. However, I don't know if the phone is unlocked. It does work with a Rogers sim card, but given that SpeakOut simply uses the Rogers network, this isn't surprising. How can I tell if it is actually locked or not? And if it is locked, how can I unlock it?

The phone is locked. Speakout can give you the unlock code for $25. The Speakout Nokia 2730 is not the same as a Rogers Nokia 2720 phones because the unlock codes are different. That their respective SIM card are cross compatible to each carrier's phones means little to whether the phone is locked or not.
