If you are talking about SpeakOut going back to 2G, I replied to your post in that other thread. Other than that, it would be good to know what device you are using. As you suggested, I would wait for SpeakOut tech to get back to you.

Getting the same yesterday and today! Really scary!
Text messages were taking 15 mins to go through and calls went to voice mail after 1 ring.

Haven't called support yet.

Using an Xperia Mini Pro that was bought outright, but still locked to Rogers. Considering paying the $50 extortion fee to get it unlocked.

Did like the other thread mentioned and set phone to GSM only. Our Sony phone required dialing a secret number I found on another forum to bring up the hidden options.
*#*#4636#*#*

So far it appears to be working. I guess the page FAQ will need to be updated to mention disabling 3G/HSPDA for smart phones to work properly if this change is permanent.

Same problem here…in Winnipeg….Sony Xperia Arc…sometimes able to dial out…sometimes says emergency calls only…been like this for two days.

Don't think I should have to put in a secret code to switch to 2G to get service.

Phoned Speakout...the only thing they can say is to do a reset...they are not in a position to say whether they are having network problems or not, and I doubt if they would admit that anyway...all they say is do a reset and if that doesn't work then phone them back. Of course I know that will likely not be helpful as I do not have a Speakout phone.

Seems to me this has to be network related, as this has not been a problem in the past.

Hey all,

Have a question.

I will be purchasing a BlackBerry Bold 9780 from the Rogers store unlocked and a 7-11 Sim card.

I won't need a data plan as I have wifi and that is plenty for me. Will the downgrade to 2G have any affect on voice or does this ONLY affect web browsing???

Please reply soon as I hope to purchase this phone very soon!

Cheers

If your phone is set to 3G only, it might have an effect. Otherwise, voice should just work, when in 2G or 3G.
