Hi was wondering which of the motorola phones are better performing as they have some phones with 2nd gen are they the recent phone - anyone had experiences from its usage.

Staples has a good deal on the unlocked phones..

Am looking for a phone which has google play store.
My spouse says motorola is very good we had them before. But a bit in weight
(i prefer sony as i have used them before)
appreciate your suggestions

I assuming you are talking about the Moto G. I believe that has a 4.5 inch 720 p screen, has LTE, and an sd card slot, and 5 mp camera, right?

In any case, all the Moto G phones have a decent battery life, and CPU. Differences between them are the first generation did not have an SD card slot and LTE, and the later generation has a 5 inch 720p screen. Whatever model you do pick, you will probably be not disappointed, Motorola does the low end much better than Sony!

Bridonca thank you for your reply - actually am not sure what i was referring too.
the E, X and G have 2nd gen. Thank you for telling me what the 2nd gen mean i did not understand anything - and why they were called 2nd gen.

Also what does LTE mean is it light in weight?
I saw them all on the staples website the 2nd gen version of the above and they were also unlocked.

I hope they have google play and have enough memory for the fongo i wish to download on the mobile apps.
I am thinking of cutting down on my phone bill by using fongo and going thru chatr (who does not charge for suspension of number while am away) and will check with rogers what they will say if i pay off the contract - then may be i dont have to pay the suspension fee.
Thank you very much for all your kind help

LTE is a supposedly faster network, nice to have, no big deal if the phone does not support it though. 3G is good enough for most purposes.

I do not like the Moto E because the screen resolution is not that good. The Moto X is nice, but pricey, at that price range, there are better phones. The Moto G is the way to go.

All these phones mentioned use Google Play, and have enough memory. They are all perfect for Fongo.

Walmart had some Chatr Moto G phones for about $100 to $150. That would be a decent way to go if you are interested in Chatr.

It does not matter much if the Moto G phones are locked, because it costs less than $5 to unlock them. I do believe the Staples version is indeed unlocked though.

Thank you very much Bridonca for all your suggestions and help.
You mentioned Moto G – meaning the 2nd gen phone – am I right.
As speakout has Moto G 2nd gen unlocked for $229

Walmart had some Chatr Moto G phones for about $100 to $150. That would be a decent way to go if you are interested in Chatr. - See more at: https://www.speakoutwireless.ca/speak/phone-features/motorola-phones-which-one/#p32016

Is this the 2nd gen (not that I know much only after you told me the difference) was this advertised on the website?
Also please let me know where I would unlock a moto phone - thank you
Thank you for all your kind help – appreciate it.

With the Moto G, there is an easy way to tell if you are dealing with Gen 1 or Gen 2. The Gen 1 phone has a 4.5" screen, whereas the Gen 2 is 5".

I have a Gen 1. Great phone, but a bit on the heavy side.

thank you and Bridonca
i managed to find the walmart price on their website. thankyou

46jimbo thank you for letting me know the difference between gen 1 and gen 2
and about the phone being on the heavier side.

I looked at all the moto phones i would like but they are all over 143g - and compared it to the samsung s4 galaxy wt is only 130 g ( using this temporarily)

I would like to have a lightweight phone to be held in my palms and cannot carry much wt. Thats why i know now why i choose sony - as they are lightweight could not recollect this before.

I was happy the search for finding the right unlocked phone with moto with the help of the SO members ended. But i guess not.
Thank you for all your help SO member and Bridonca who was so very helpful with her timely response with my querries - appreciate it.

May have to go with the samsung mini S4 or S3 not sure - not a samsung fan

Hi
Please let me know which one of these are comparable.
I would go by walmart and check out the Moto phones and see the weight of the phone physically.

I liked the Moto G 2nd gen from staples or speakout.
Walmart is having a sale of some of their phone – not sure if sale but they are less expensive

The Samsung Galaxy Core LTE
Or
Not with walmart – no sale -Sony xperia m-4 aqua
Are the Samsung and sony comparable to the moto g 2nd gen
please let me know thank you

My sister has a Samsung Galaxy Core LTE. I hate it because the specs are so awful. My sister likes it because it looks nice, and it was better than her Galaxy S2x. She never used a Moto G, and I saw no point showing her one since nothing would be gained, as she owns the Samsung Galaxy Core LTE.

The Sony Xperia M4 Aqua is the best choice here if you chose to spend the money, because it has the nicer specs. I personally recommend you buy the Moto G, use it, and return it if it does not suit you. I suspect it will be good enough. I never found it to be that heavy, but the better battery life compared to the Samsung Galaxy Core LTE is worth it! The screen quality is much better than the Samsung Galaxy Core LTE.

Phones are compromise devices. A bulky device can have better battery life for example. You have to decide what you want to compromise on. From experience, I will never compromise on battery life or screen quality. If you do, that will bite you every day you use the device!

Thank you very much Bridonca, I did go to staples and saw the moto g 2 and it did not seem to be heavy also I thought the speakout was at a lower price than staples but you can get it with some top up purchase at $229.
Anyway the staples store told me to purchase it and then return within 14 days load the battery and try it out and return if it is heavy.
But I did not buy it, then went to walmart and saw the SG core LTE it looks nice like the way you mentioned and was lighter. The walmart gentleman told me that all the Moto phones do not have a removable battery so if something goes wrong you have to replace the whole back window and is very expensive. He also said to take the core LTE and try it and return it.
My spouse likes Samsung – using and used for many years also likes moto and has used for many years. But when this was mentioned about the battery not being able to remove became an issue.
The core LTE was $200, still needs unlocking and the moto g 2 was 249 unlocked.
The Sony xperia is thru wind mobile 33$ on a 2 yr term after 3 months they will give the unlock code for $30 – Price of the phone prepaid is $299 if you pay the full price the code for unlocking will be given right away for $30
Wind mobile was also used by my spouse and the reception was awful – this was when they first came out. Not sure how it is now. And if I have the contract then I am stuck for 2 yrs with the reception.
I just need for talk text and camera at times.Still deciding. To unlock the Samsung I think it is around $35 not sure.
Thank you for all your kind help

Hi Bridonca

Just found out that Moto E and moto E 2nd gen has a removable battery.

And Sony xperia M4 Aqua the battery is stuck to the back cover

I will just settle with the Samsung Core LTE. We just saw on the internet that Rogers is offering this phone and we phoned them and they said i could get it without increasing my monthly payment.
Not sure why or where after phoning them a number of times that they did not offer this deal. kept saying that my monthly rate will go up.
Thank you very very much for all your patience and sincere help.
Thank you to the speak out forum. Truly very grateful.https://www.speakoutwireless.ca/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-wink.gif
