hi everyone

I am waiting for a Motorola Razr V (XT885) that should arrive later this week.
I would like to know if I should be able to get the Unlimited Browsing with this model?
Also, do I need to root the phone to have Unlimited Browsing? The phone will have ICS.

Anyone with this phone? What are the features/apps available with the Unlimited Browsing? Apps store, Youtube...

Thanks for your lights!!

Though I do not own this phone, it looks to be a good phone to use with the Speakout Unlimited Mobile Browsing feature.

Browsing will work, as will maps. Other apps may or may not work, depending on where you are, and how busy the Roger cell tower is. Speakout users seem to be on a lower priority than Rogers users. That is generally not a real issue most of the time, because I do not think most Rogers towers are all that saturated. But saying that, you might not be able to view that youtube clip any time, all the time. I usually use wifi for that sort of stuff anyway, so it is no great loss.

The phone needs to be unlocked. It does not need to be rooted. If you input the correct APN settings, you should be good to go.

One last thing... I've looks at the Terms of service and I am wondering how severe are they when someone uses a couples of hundreds Mb of bandwidth??

I don't want to uses like 2gb a month, but don't want my account to be close if it happens!

Thank you again

Well!! We'll forget that!!

I am in Quebec and SpeakOut will not ship to Quebec!

Do you know why?

Apparently you have to do something extra with your credit card system to have them work in Quebec. Since 7-11 does not operate in Quebec, it was not worth the hassle.

Speakout SIM cards work in Quebec, and you can get Quebec numbers. You just cannot pay for them with a Quebec credit card. If you have a friend that is not in Quebec, or travel out of province, that can work for you. I am in Nova Scotia, but I get my sister in Calgary to get the airtime for me, because of the lower tax.

That can be a hassle, of course, so another option is to look at Petro Canada mobility. The have comparable rate plans and uses the same Rogers network. Easier to get airtime and SIM cards also.

The general consensus is there is a soft cap of 2GB a month. If you use it for what it is meant for, which is Unlimited Mobile Browsing, you really should never get even close to that limit. You get into problems when you do stupid stuff like excessive streaming, or downloading, or any other high bandwidth application that violates the terms and conditions. You can get away with a lot, but don't be greedy, and don't be stupid.

I am not wure it has anything to do with credit card... I cannot even select Quebec in the list of province during the check out... I think it is more of a French support availability...

Anyway, thank you again... I'll try to figure out something... I may have a friend in ontario that could accomodate me!!

Don't put much thought into the Speakout web site. It is not what one would consider Speakout's finest accomplishment. If you do get your hands on a Speakout SIM card, have a chat with a Speakout CSR, though I do not think their French is all that good.
