Has anyone had problem with their phone number not showing on your friend's phone ?
I set my phone (unlocked HTC) to show my ID to everyone when I make a call.
Basically, I clicked and followed the menu on the phone: Options/Services/CallerID/GetSettings...
After a few seconds, it showed 3 choices:
Show my caller ID to:
- Everyone (SELECTED)
- No one
- Only to contacts
But after when I call my friend, he sees my (and only my) incoming ID as: Unknown
I then tried to add the #code prefix ( *82 ) before the dialed number several ways (number is 000-000-0000):
*82#0000000000 ("Unfortunately we cannot complete your call. Please try to dial again...)
*31#0000000000 ("Call success but ID shown="Unknown").
*82*0000000000 ("Unfortunately we cannot complete your call. Please try to dial again...)
*820000000000 ("Unfortunately we cannot complete your call. Please dial again).
*310000000000 (("Unfortunately we cannot complete your call. Please try to dial again...).
I spoke to Customer-Rep who would not offer any answer (his name is James) and cut short the conversation by saying: Sorry, you are using a phone that is not Speakout phone. He's right though, he can only know well about the Nokia SpeakOut phone, not other brand phones.
Thanks!

I assume your friend can see your speak out phone number though right? If that is the case, then it is SNAFU! 🙂
To reliably project caller ID to everyone, the carrier has to subscribe to a 3rd party company that provides the caller ID info. A lot of carriers do not believe it is worth the extra expense for such a little thing, thus some only project the number, and not the name. A lot of VOIP companies do this.

Thank you all.
No, he cannot see my Number as well as my Name.
It just shows as Unknown.
And that, even if he has me in his Contact list.
I put the same SpeakOut card to another phone, and the same thing happens: when I call someone, someone cannot see my number, just "unknown".
This is not a phone "feature" either, because when I put Fido card to the current phone (the one with SpeakOut card), then make a call, then the receiver sees the Fido number. So obviously it's not a phone-problem.
But the Customer-Rep at SpeakOut (James) doesn't seem to understand, and just keeps on with his close-mind on the fact that I don't use (don't have anymore) a Nokia 1661.
This sucks.

Did the caller id work before when it was in the SpeakOut branded phone? Of course, SpeakOut only supports phones that were sold by SpeakOut. If the caller id worked while you had the SpeakOut phone, then let customer service know, as this might be a sim card issue. In your original post though, all you stated was that you tried the sim in an HTC phone, and the things you tried to get it work with that phone.

I never tried the card with the Nokia phone.
But when I put a Fido card in the phone that has the SpeakOut phone, then make a phone call, any receiver can see my Number.
So if it's because of the phone, then why does the receiver sees my Number with the Fido card, and not with the SpeakOut card (both card with the same Phone) ?
