my nexus one only get edge connection...why?

as the title says, i only got edge connection on my nexus one while my friend gets 3g connection in his phone.(we live in the same place)
therefore, anyone know how to solve this problem?

are they the exact same model and tried at the same place ? Have you swap the SIM and try ?
Not familiar with your phone but if I use a Galaxy Ace bought in Europe/Asia, I would only get EDGE(and vice versa if i use my Ace in Asia/Europe) as some low price android are only dual band 3G.
Another possiblity is of course the 3G is disabled on the phone.

my phone is a HTC rogers wireless nexus one. and it is unlocked.
however, i cant get 3g connection on my N1.
reply: we are at the same place but we got different phone models. and the 3g on my phone is on.
