I wouldn't invest in a new battery for that phone.
Some of these "made-for-prepaid" phones seem to have a higher rate of defective (or at least flaky) units.
If your needs are mostly for a strong calling & texting phone - but without completely writting off e-mail & browsing - addopt an E5 off the classifieds, or buy a new C2-01 in the Bell box from Walmart for peanuts & get it unlocked.
These are much better built phones with the bonus of a better camera (and in case of the E5, WiFi).
Rogers gave away tons of E5's as renewal gifts or backup phones and there are many for sale that are barely used or un-used from people just looking to turn them into some cash. With a little patience, one can be found for $70 or less.
Yes, it is kind of ugly, but it is perhaps the last cell phone to have that feel of the old school torture-tested Nokias that lasted forever.
I've seen C2-01's for as little as $59.99 new. Sell the Bell SIM card to recover most of the cost of unlocking.
