At my local 7-11 I noticed that there is a new phone in the lineup that is not on the website yet. I believe the model is the Nokia C5-03. Looks pretty cool!

The reviews slammed it because it is not the most responsive phone out there. Touch screen phones are judged by another standard nowadays. If it was a $100 phone, well then....

I saw the sign for this today when I purchased a new voucher. What stood out to me was the claim of "3.5G" data.

This tells me that SpeakOut's network will be "officially" 3G or higher in order to support this phone.

That (hopefully) means no more issues calling out on 3G.

This phone doesn't look very good for the price. I could live with the 600Mhz processor but it has a resistive screen and only 128MB RAM. I'll stick with my android powered optimus one. Hopefully this means they open some more ports for apps since they are officially carrying a smart phone.

Not likely. Symbian phones and apps work rather well under a proxy. One of the perks of a legacy OS.

C5 is only available in limited quantities and only released in a couple cities: Toronto and Vancouver I think. Because of this, it's unlikely we'll see it officially released on the website. I had a chance to play with it. It nearly had me in tears with frustration. I didn't like it at all. However, I should preface that by saying I've never used another touch screen phone. So, it could just be that I'm not with the times and will eventually learn to navigate it better. But, it didn't seem intuitive at all.

I went to get this phone on Aug 1st so I could take advantage of the promotion but it turns out that they sent them all back. I have contacted speak out but they say I can't get this phone. I am sooo choked, I guess I have to go to another carrier to get a smart phone. Bummer

get a roger's E5. Better than C5 at sort of the same price. 160 but they give you 50 dollar gift card. you need to choose a monthly plan but i was told they give you 30 dollar credit for new account so it still nets out to be 110. Much better deal than C5.
