I'm a newbie and have a nexus one configured to 3G/UMTS bands (850/1900/2100 MHz0 and GSM frequencies 850/900/1800/1900 MHz.
I purchased the unlimited web browsing (Petro Can) and want to know, if it will work, how to connect to it. Please give me the simplest step by step instructions you can, if it's possible to do this at all.
Thanks!

Here are the APN settings for Speakout. Sadly I do not have a google phone, so I would not know how to input them. Make sure you have the phone in 2G mode if applicable.
APN: goam.com
username: wapuser1
password: wap
Proxy: 10.128.1.69
Port: 80
EDIT: I probably should have mentioned these settings apply with Petro Canada sims also,

Can anyone confirm that a Nexus One is really working on SO? It doesn't work for me.
- My SO SIM works with data in the SO phone
- the same SIM works with data using the settings above in a Nokia S60 type phone
- I cant't get data services working using the same SIM in the Nexus One using the settings above.
- Nexus one works fine though using a Fido SIM, so the Nexus itself is fine.
Phone has been switched to 2G, it tries Edge and GPRS but no success.
Powercycling the Nexus did not help.
What am I missing? I am stunned.
Thanks.

Hmm, neither of these settings work for my nexus, whether I use
APN type=default (which I had to set at Fido) or
APN type=
Andreww,
can you confirm that you use a Nexus One or at least an Android phone? After all what I have read in this and Howard's forum you may be the first one that got data services operational on SO using an Android phone.
Others, please jump in if you own an Android phone that works on SO ... what is your location, what are setings incl. the authentication setings (PAP/CHAP/both/none), did you have to specify the APN type?
Thanks

Works on nexus one. delete the apn's then reset to default then make the changes mentioned above.
The browser works at least and rtsp music streaming.
Hi Jarro,
doesn't work for me. Here is what I did:
- deleted all APNs
- clicked on reset to default (in APN screen) -> Rogers APN popped up, likely read from SO SIM
- modified that APN to match the goam.com settings as per bridonca post above
- tried browser access, didn't work
- powercycled, tried again with browser, didn't work
Location: Vancouver, Nexus is in 2G mode and is still running Android 2.1.
Anything that I missed?
Thanks

See link below at Howard Forums. It works for my N1. It's the only way I've been able to use the Petro Can UMB. The problem is that you have to reenter the configs in Fennec every time you power up, and the apps are not available, but these glitches will soon be fixed by Fennec we hope.

Hey RZP,
this is an excellent pointer, finally there is an explanation of the problem cause, and finally I got it working !!
In summary:
- Nexus1 applications do not consider the proxy settings, one has to configure the proxy in the browser
- Such configuration is not possible in the Safari Browser that is installed as the default
- It is prossible however, when using Mozilla Fennec browser (still in alpha)
I hope the official Android 2.2 that is coming to Nexus1 soon fixes the proxy problem as well.
Thanks RZP, I appreciate your help solving this problem.

Yes, the standard web broser (Safari) works with the settings as per bridonca posting above.
With Android 2.2 the Nexus One accepts the proxy settings (to be configured in the general Nexus settings under Wireless&Networks/MobileNetwork/AccesspointNames) and the browser works fine then.
No specific settings required in the stock browser (Safari) itself .
Gmail still doesn't work, but IMHO that's obvious since it doesn't use port 80.
