Sometime around the start of November, I stopped getting the New Voice Mail waiting icon on all of my SpeakOut accounts,
Customer Service insists this must be a device issue. I have a hard time believing this without first canvassing other users to rule out changes by either the Rogers network or by SpeakOut on the back end.
The oldest SIM is in an unlocked Nokia C6-00 and WAS working perfectly since August 2012 (with both the "cassette" icon in the upper notification area and one-time "new voice mail" pop-up along the bottom). The phone has not been updated – firmware updates are impossible due to Fido custom version – so nothing on my end could have changed.
Another SIM sits in a SpeakOut Nokia 1616 – one of the freebies from a $100 top up – also used to work fine until recently. ( keeping it to give to my Mom when her old SOLO phone either dies or gets killed off) … tired the SIM in a factory unlocked 5530 which I used to use in 2011 and got the same problem on a device which didn't have the problem before.
A 3rd SIM I just activated 2 weeks ago with the Alcatel and loaned it to a friend who lost her phone. I'm not prepared to say there is no VM notification – I've been too tired to figure out that phone's messy notification area – but I don't see the big message accross the screen like when it gets a Text.
