Hello. I will visit Toronto in May. I have a Nokia 1208, bought in Thailand. I'm not sure how the cell phone system works in Canada; may I use my phone, or do I have to buy a new one? I will only be in Canada for 3 weeks, so I'm hoping I don't have to buy a new phone. In most countries you just buy a SIM card for whatever phone you have, and you're all set. Thank you.

That Nokia 1208 will probably not work in Canada if it works in Thailand. The Nokia 1208 is a dual band phone. A quad band phone would work in more countries. The Nokia 1208 comes in 2 versions, one for North America, and one for the rest of the world. I highly doubt you have the North American version.

Petro Canada is probably the best way to go. You can get a SIM for $5, or a SIM and phone for as low as $19. A 200 minute Canada wide, monthly plan is $20, and an unlimited, local monthly plan is $40. All prepaid, with no contract.
