I have a SO Nikia 1208. I have bought a European SIM card. Now I need to know if the band will work in Europe. It has something to do with this
GSM 900 / 1800

GSM 850 / 1900 - US version
I dont understand it.

If you click on the Home page of this website & read FAQ #29 it should help answer your query.

To make things even more interesting, there are 2 versions of the Nokia 1208, the European version, and the North American version. The North American Version will work in European countries that have 1900 mhz towers. The European version will not work in North America.

My suggestion is to pick up a phone that uses the GSM bands that Europe uses (900 and 1800 MHz). Better still, pick up an unlocked quad-band phone (one that uses the 2 european bands and the 2 North American bands) so you can use it in North America as well.

That way you can use the quad-band phone with your Speakout SIM or you can use it as a backup in case you break your Nokia 1208.
