Has anyone used the Nokia 1600? any comments? I only need a phone with basic functions for my parents. Most important features are volume (must be loud enough for ringtone as well as voice volume), and vibrate mode- must be strong. Also, are you able to adjust the text size?
They are currently using the Nokia 6061 (Rogers) and the volume is somewhat low. Thanks

My experience with the 1600 has been mostly positive. I've also purchased one for my mom.
If you have not bought one and experience it yourself yet. Hopefully this will help...
It's a very basic phone: No bluetooth, no camera, only runs on GSM, and no fancy java/mp3 stuff.
However it gets the job done, and reasonably well. Volume is good. Vibration is fairly strong. Screen is easy to read (font size is decent but not adjustable). And the buttons are easy to operate. (Tested on my mom ;)).
But for seniors, 6061, or any flip phone, may be easier to operate. It's easier for them to understand "flip open to answer call; flip close to end call." Unless, of course, they are ok with send/end buttons.
As for light cell phone user like myself, I find this phone meeting my needs. Though I wish that it would remember duration of the calls, and I can turn the speaker phone on before the call is connected. There are probably ways, but I haven't found out how yet.
