Can an unlocked Wind Mobile Nokia 5230 be used on the Speakout network? I want to switch because of poor coverage issues but would like to know before spending $$ for unlocking.
Also, where can I get it unlocked cheap? Many people report getting incorrect codes from websites after paying $20 or so.

I'm using a T-mobile unlocked Nokia 5230 with the $10 browsing, no problem. Just don't abuse it and we'll probably be fine! Getting 3G plus speeds. Guess this doesn't technically answer your question though, since it's a T-M.
I got a feeling it shouldn't have any problem since SO is Rogers and technically I don't see why it can't. I ask because the other user claims it is not compatible which sounds confusing.

You can get 3G from your Nokia 5230? If so, I did not know it was a penta-band phone! It would be nice if someone tried a Bell/Telus SIM card to confirm!

I'm not sure it would be penta band. I'm not knowledgeable enough. Here is a quote from elsewhere. Perhaps just quad, if I understand it…..
"I think the Wind/Mobi/TM Nokia 5230 will also partially work 3G on Rogers/Bell/Telus (850 only, no 1900). Note – this is not the same version of the Nokia 5230 as the one Newegg has for sale in Hot Deals. The one in Newegg is for Bell/Rogers/Telus/AT&T"
I do know that I run a mobile speed test and the speed reported most of the time is faster than 3G with the $10 browsing. Also the phone displays 3G when on Speakout.
Last time in the US I didn't use T-M but Ekit instead so don't know what it would be doing there.
FOUND this....
"The Nokia 5230-1c Nuron (Type: RM-593) Product Code 002P9H9
* is a quadband GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz device.
* It has WCDMA bands 850 MHz and 1700/2100 MHz AWS.
* The FCC designation for this model is LJPRM-593.
This will work on T-Mobile US 3G networks at 3G speed. It will also work on Wind Canada."
