A few days ago I purchased the Nokia C3.
I've been very happy with it and haven't had any problems

But I'm trying to figure out how to send a text from my phone directly to an email account. It lets me start one but won't let me send it without a Mail Center defined.
I tried: Menu > Messaging > More > Message Settings > Text Messages
to set a mail center
>Mail msg. centers

Center name: Mail Center (Its my understanding this is inconsequential)
Server number: blankā€¦
Mail center no.: 17057969300 (simply the mail center number for the Rogers network)

I need the server number!! I have scoured the internet trying to find something, anything.
I also tried calling customer service and confused the crap out of the poor girl. She told me to call Nokia, but I don't know about that.

In the interest of experimenting I put my own phone number in as the 'Server number' and the text sent, but rather than arriving in my email's inbox, they were sent to my phone like any regular incoming text. Hmm.

Anyone have any information for me regarding this issue? Even that I'm SOL and should give up would be helpful, haha

never heard about such a thing. SMS can only goes to another SMS(well sort of another phone number), anything beyond that is some additional service. gmail for example can allow you to send SMS to a cell phone which when reply would go to a gmail account, but that is done by gmail, not some standard things that you can specify in your cell.

My previous phone could send messages to email. It works just like a text. To reply to the email its usually yournumber@yourserviceprovider.com or something like that.

But I will look into that gmail option, thanks.

Unfortunately it seems gmail's sms service is not available in Canada, but thanks. Maybe someday.
