I'm looking for a phone that will strictly be used at home as an received email notifier WITHOUT a data plan (actually no sim card at all
Currently I have a Nokia N8, It's got Mail for Exchange which I can allow to poll my hotmail account at specified intervals (15, 20, 60min) or instantaneously which mimics push notifications, but kills battery life since it runs with wifi on during the 'push' time period I specify.
Does the C3 have a similar feature?
Is there any other phone that can do what I'm asking? I'd like to keep it nokia since i'm familar with the OS, and the C3 seems like a good fit because I can get it cheap.

C3 email is very iffy. It actually is done by Nokia(they have an aggregator server) and the phone push/pull from them. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
I am use Galaxy Gio for this exact purpose(no data only wifi) and it works nicely for gmail. hotmail however is iffy as far as push is concerned but this is a hotmail issue, not the phone.
both give me similar battery life ~3-5 days between recharge. What I found about the gio is that wifi actually is not the power killer but the 3G network. I make it GSM only and it can last a lot longer.
Another thing that is interesting that people may argue with me is that i set the wifi to be never off(instead of off when sleep) that gives me better battery life. My guess is the constant negotiation for channel actually use more battery.
