I apologise in advance if this is in the wrong spot.

After all the advice and help I received from this forum, I finally decided to purchase a Nokia E5 from a Rogers Plus store in Mississauga.

To anyone wondering, this phone works with a SpeakOut SIM card right out of the box. You can do mobile browsing and visit any website on its browser; however, most apps, such as the MSN chat app, does not work outside a Wi Fi zone.

It takes a lot of practice and some reading to get your way around the E5. It's like BMW's I-Drive. Integrated, yet overly complicated. I bought this two Saturdays ago and just tonight have finally gotten my home screen all jazzed up the way I want it (you need to find an hour or two and just sit down with the phone).

I really like my E5. If you are considering buying this phone, it's at Rogers Plus Stores for about $160. Not bad at all!

If you have any questions about it, respond to this forum or private inbox me!

Thank you to all those on this forum who helped me- you know who you are!

do you mean the app doesn't work for the 10/month UMB ? You may want to call them to see if they can tweak the setting per another poster. When I had my C3 trial two month UMB, everything worked(didn't try VOIP i.e. SIP though).

Try uninstall and install it again to see it works.

Thanks guys, but the Nokia Chat app (which is includes MSN, AIM, etc.) doesn't work with unlimited mobile browsing; however, it will load up if you go to the mobile website for chatting (m.ebuddy.com for example).

not true. I have it working when I had the trial. People said you need to call them as the setting on their side is a bit different from C3(which is closer to a smart phone).

Got one of these E5 units and decided to go to speak out once I found out what a bunch of sheisters rogers are but I can't get any internet data with the E5 and a speak out sim card.

I have no idea what I have done wrong but it is all messed up now!!!

I basically got the new sim authorized from speak out via phone and then I put in the new card – rebooted twice and when I tried to go internet the phone tried to access the rogers network which of course wasn't happy about the sim card.

I factory defaulted the phone and it's pretty much a door stop now as neither rogers or speak out internet data is accessable. I can use the phone on either network though.

I have $300.00 invested in cellphones and data plans this month and still no internet access.

$45 for the virgin monthly payment two days before the phone broke – $160 for the E5 – $50 for monthly payment on the E5 plan – another $30 for a top up when my rogers data ran out (which lasted exactly ten minutes at $.05 per kilobyte - that's about 8$ per web page viewed – and $60 for a speak out sim card and monthly payment to speak out.

Any ideas?

first you need to call speakout to enable the UMB then you have to set the proper APN entry in the phone(search goam.com in this forum) and you should have internet browsing access.
