I have a Sony Xperia X8 that I use for Speakout UMB with autoproxy. The phone is often laggy, the autoproxy crashes, etc. I am looking for a recommendation for a reasonably priced upgrade, that is unlockable and rootable (if not already unlocked and rooted), and will run 3G on the Rogers/speakout network. Also, it would be simpler if it took a mini sim, since I would rather not have to trim my speakout sim. BTW, I am in Montreal.

Does anyone have suggestions? I don't want to spend what a Nexus S III would cost.

Thanks

nexus 4 if you can get one and there are many S2 which is effectively ~200 bucks. Though if you said your xperia is lagging, not sure if S2 is the same.

Is it just me or does the s2 already look pretty dated?

But what should I know, I have a nokia n8.

I just picked up an S2, and boy, it flies! With ICS, I don't even need to use a proxy to use the apps I want.
