I carefully cut the SO sim card, fit it into my unlocked iphone 4S, and activated the sim card... I tried to call 611, but the call failed and my phone reads "No Service."

I haven't yet bought minutes (I'm thinking of getting one of the value plans), but I don't think that should make a difference.

I'm confused about why my phone reads "No Service..." Any thoughts? Could it be that I might not have cut the sim card precisely enough...?

Maybe you did not cut your SO sim card correctly to micro sim

I use it with iPhone 4S no problem at all

Turn on airplane mode and turn off

Try to see if the phone read the sim card by go to phone setting and see if there is a phone number or not

Thanks so much for your response, seagame2001.

I actually shifted the sim card a bit and now I'm connected. I'm wondering if it will continue to give me trouble... perhaps I should buy a new sim card... what do you think? Any advice?

well I think you should try it for a week or show and see how the signal bar

if you lose signal and no service then go ahead buy new sim card and get a proper sim cutter or template online and cut it correctly

I know sometimes I am deep basement my iphone lost signal but it will be right back.

If you are in Toronto bring sim card I will cut it for u

I like your suggestion -- thank you. I will leave the card in for a week and see if the service changes. How strong (how many bars) is your signal?

I have another question... do you know which programs are best for making calls using data? I read that skype doesn't work on SO. I'm hoping to find a way to make calls over the internet.

Thanks again for all your help.

I always get 5 bars signal on my iPhone 4. Well I don't have SO data so I don't know for me I just mostly use wifi at home and at work

If I am in the basement I got 3 or 4 bars. I know every one try to save money but I think SO is fair deal compare to Rogers or Fido out there

Last year, I bought $25 voucher online and I had 5 bucks left so far this year my SO account still has $18 left LOL.

There are no apps that will allow you to make calls over data that will work with Speakout.
