The phone got my interest. Although it is a series 40 phone, it does have wifi. Something to look into anyway.

I picked up one of these, tried my SO sim, it would only just display briefly the page to set date/time, then blank out. It would only display that or a grey screen and then power off. I thought maybe because i didn't activate the phone yet that was the problem. However, I have unlocked the phone (mobileincanada) and activated it on rogers, yet when I put my SO sim n it won't stay powered on or function normally. What have I missed or done wrong? Help!
Thanks!

It works fine without sim on my wireless without any data plan, works fine with the rogers sim, but when I put the SO sim in, when the screen comes up for date/time set, it starts flashing on and off. Sometimes I manage to 'set' the date/time (cause the keys don't seem to work most times) but it's mostly a grey screen with a minimum of test on it and then there's nothing. Like I said, putting the rogers sim in and allis good. Would it really be defective if it works with a different sim (and the SO sim works fine in my 2720)? Thanks!

I bought a Rogers prepaid Nokia C3 for my daughter when it was on sale at Best Buy about a couple of weeks ago. Put in a newly activated Speakout SIM card and it worked beautifully. Very nice looking phone with and comfortable to text with. Limited memory so wifi wasn't so useful. I like the calendar feature, but there was no call history..although you can see if you've missed a call.
Unfortunately can't tell you more as my daughter was robbed of her phone, but will be getting another one

Excellent (about the phone, not the need to get a second one). My wife absolutely hates texting on a standard keypad, so this could be perfect for her. Thanks!

Came across the C3 while I was looking for a better phone for my wife who hated texting on the Nokia 2720 and wanted a full non-virtual keyboard. For $89 it's about the cheapest you can get a keyboard phone for with built-in WiFi, and has far better reviews and seems more solid than any of the cheap LG models around this price.
After she brought hers home and I played with it for a little while, I decided to get one myself to replace my aging and dying SE W600i (fastport no longer works with USB and barely charges).
We both have SO SIMs - hers came from a 2720 I bought this past summer, mine came from SO a year or so ago after I lost my phone + SIM and had to call for a replacement. Mine is a "U0.2" SIM, I can't recall what type hers is.

Chatr Nokia C3 was advertised for $75 in the Futureshop flyer, but came up as $99 on website. I called the store and the lady selling cellphones said she would honor the price advertised in the flyer if I bought from her store.
So far difference between Rogers Nokia C3 and Chatr Nokia C3:
Chatr includes bluetooth headset
Rogers includes wired headset + phone user manual

I am using an older Nokia 1112 (with monochrome screen!), and it has been fine for my very modest text and talk needs. Up to now, I've had no interest in spending money on something fancier. HOWEVER, this Nokia C3 with a full keyboard and Wi-Fi just might change my mind! I have not yet seen one "in the flesh", but the user reviews are very positive. Even if I don't sign up for the data plan, the ability to use the Wi-Fi at free hotspots is very tempting indeed!
I have a "price watch" set up at both the Bestbuy and Future Shop web sites, to see if either store drops the price below the regular $89.99. Any other retail or on-line sellers (besides a Rogers store) that might sell this phone and have a sale price?
Incidentally, I looked at this phone on ebay and virtually all of them, regardless of the seller's location, are selling for well in excess of $100, with most being in the $150-$200 range. What gives???

Exactly my feeling about the C3! Free internet, expandable, good reviews. The Rogers C3 was on sale last week at BB for $80, so I snapped it up. I bought my replacement SO SIM + phone, activated it, annnd…it does not work in the C3! The screen blacks out and eventually shuts down. I've put it in another Rogers C3, and also a Chatr C3 phone today, with exactly the same results.
This seems to mean that the SIM is the problem, but I don't know if a new SIM will solve the problem, or if any SO SIM that is newer will now also have this problem.
My colleague's SO card, maybe over a year old, did work in my C3.
Now, I'm stuck using the horrible 1661 (by comparison, I loved my 1208, was it?) and, as a newbie, am trying to sell off the airtime from the free phone offer, as I don't need it with my $104 balance. *sigh*
