I've purchased a used unlocked iPhone 2G for the purpose of using with SO. I'll be picking it up today. Yesterday I picked up a SO Nokia 1660 and activated it. Works fine. This morning I pulled out the SIM in preperation for the new phone. One of the guys here has a Jailbroken iPhone 3GS, so we put the SIM in it and got the "NO SERVICE" message. Tried another stock Rogers 3GS and got the same "NO SERVICE" message.
Should I be worried or do the 3GS phones simply not work on SO? I'm trying to remain calm until I pick up my 2G, but does anybody have any words of encouragement?

I have a 3GS and the sim card when taken out of the speakout nokia worked immediately. Try restarting the iphone after putting in the speakout sim.

It worked great! Although there were some tense moments as I put my SIM in the phone while riding on the Yonge St. subway, as obviously there is NO SERVICE underground. As the train made one of its rare above ground sprints, the phone sprang to life and I was able to fire off a test text. Got back to the office and modded it to use the ULB as well.
Couldn't be happier, thanks to all who posted the helpful "How to" guides, and the operators of this site. Very helpful indeed!
