unlocked phone and can't send textmessages | Phone/Device Issues and Features | Consumer forum

Previous unlocked moto razr v3 got from a friend using the rogers network. He had no issues, yet when I plug in my sim I can't send text messages. Just says unable to send. That phone died recently so I bought another moto (w510) off ebay. Seems to work find, but again won't send text messages. The only settings to change (for the most part) are the the service centre phone number. Of which it gets directly from the sim card.

Talked to rogers and they said that obviously wouldn't support an unlocked/foreign phone. Only thing they could think of was to do a reset. Don't really see how that would help since the phone is brand new.

I can text with my speakout nokia 8130 (or whatever the cheapest phone was). But it has no camera, so it's worth the sacrifice Just more curious if there is anything I can do, or is this problem isolated to just me.

I had posted about not being able to check voicemail from the unlocked phone as well. But again, not super worried about that... I have voip software if I am at home to check. If at work, have access to a landline.
