I'd like to know whether I can use the Speakout sim card with an iPhone 3 from the AT&T network. Is there anything special I have to do or do I need to unlock it somehow?

The iPhone is GSM capable. I have the iPhone from when I went to university in the States, and I didn't purchase it as an unlocked Apple. Feasibly I should be able to buy the sim card and swap out the one in it? Any suggestions are welcome.

If you still have an active AT&T account, you can get AT&T to unlock it for you. You have to call AT&T and they verify your account. Google it.

Or if you didn't upgrade the baseband (1.59.00 or lower), you can use redsn0w jailbreak & software unlock.
Google it.
