I consulted the list of compatible phones on the Speak Out web site:
https://www.speakout7eleven.ca/assets/pdf/handset_guide_november_2009.pdf
and they list the Virgin LG Rumour as compatible. Few other details are provided.
If I get such a model, will it work as soon as I slip my Sim card. I am assuming yes, as it would not be on the list.
Currently, I use an older Nokia 6310i - but it's slowly dying on me - my 1661 is in my sock drawer as a backup if needed...
Anyone out there using a Rumour ?
Thanks.

This phone will not work because Virgin uses CDMA, not GSM. 7-Eleven sells handsets for Virgin, Fido and Rogers, as well as SpeakOut. Only the handsets listed with the SpeakOut logo will work on SpeakOut (well, the Rogers one would work too if you used a SO SIM).
The SO site is a little misleading because the link says this is the SpeakOut handset grid - but it includes the phones for the other carriers too.

I agree that the grid is a little misleading, but that is the list for all the phones you may find a at retail 7-Eleven store. It is not just a list for SpeakOut phones. That's why phones are also listed for Virgin, Rogers and Fido. The ones SpeakOut phones are the ones that have the SpeakOut logo in the same line.
