I'd like to buy a Nokia 2760 before they get replaced by the 5200 but I'm concerned about the audio quality. Based on this review,
http://www.arcx.com/sites/Noki.....202760.htm
the caller's voice sounds distorted. I haven't found any other reviews that complain about distorted sound so did this reviewer just happen to get a defective phone?
I have also read reviews about people who say that the caller's voice is too quiet and others who say that you just need to push (+) several times to make it louder.
There are also negative reviews of the 2760 from people in Europe/Asia (who use the 900/1800 bands instead of the North American 850/1900 bands) who complain about poor reception and dropped calls.
Does the 2760 from 7-Eleven suffer from any of these problems or are the sound quality and reception fairly decent? Would it be comparable to my old Samsung SCH-A645?

I had my 2760 for about 3 weeks now. The reception is OK. The caller's voice is relatively loud. Somebody said they could not find anywhere to turn up the volume. The fact is you only can turn up the volume in the call. The best chance is you dial *777 to check your air time balance. You can turn up your volume in this call.

Stimpy & folks,
Greetings.
Let me to clarify a little bit on how Steve Punter and I benchmark the "audio quality". I am not sure about you, but we have tested many, many different handsets in the course of the cellular telecommunication era itself!
I am an audiophile who is critical in different characteristic of audio reproduction. As for Steve, he has explained a little on his methodology in http://www.arcx.com/sites/Audi.....uality.htm
Different people may have different "preferences" or "benchmarks" when comes to audio. It may sound okay to you, but not necessarily to others. So put it this way: we have heard something better. The 3 units of Nokia 2760 (includes 1 GSM900/1800 variant, RM-258 and 2 GSM850/1900 variant, RM-259) I have come across have been consistent with the similar observable characteristics.
As for the RF performance, what matters to us here in North America with the RM-259, i.e. 2760b. We have not found it "unacceptable" under most circumstances - especially when the user is stationary or the coverage is optimal. However, it goes downhill when the user making calls in a moving vehicle.
