Speakout phones work with Rogers and Petro Canada. Not as likely to work with Chatr or FIDO.

I am an SO customer who wants to upgrade to an iphone3GS. This was a phone previously locked to Rogers on a contract. My partner's contract runs out shortly and the phone will be availble.
Can I take my SO SIM card and pop it into the iPhone ....or do I have to get the iPhone unlocked first?

Yes, the SO SIM card will work in the iPhone 3GS. You won't need to get it unlocked.

Thanks for this info. Up to now, I've been using the text feature on my SO Nokia model 5130 without any added charges....I note that SO has "new" plans, including texting and browsing. Do I have to subscribe from here on in.....or can I continue using texting when the SIM goes into the iPhone?

You can just pay per text. You won't have to sign up for a plan. Those plans are for heavier texters.
