Sorry for the confusion. I thought I was being jerked around but now I believe that people have honestly only given me their codes.
I don't know why the system isn't accepting them. I originally tried to validate a code when I only had a $5 balance and maybe screwed it up.
Or maybe their system is buggered.
I don't know what HKBOI stands for.

Fibb as I explained to you in the email when you asked for a code
You can only validate ONE code for each account. After you validate the FIRST code you cannot use any other ones. You cannot be the code user after the first validation ... you can only get credit by being the code provider
the fact that you mention "I only had a $5 balance" indicates that there are 3 conclusions that can be drawn from this :you either
a) have already validated a code before and now your balance is down to $5 or
b) you have not done the initial $25 top up which is necessary for you to get the extra $10 when you use the code
c) this is a PR spin stunt by 7eleven to discourage the use of codes referrals from this msgboard
please stop spamming this msgboard when you simply need to figure out how it works - by reading the sites/msgboard

All I know is this referral system didn't work for me. Here is my complete story.
Yesterday I bought a phone from 7-11. I originally tried applying a referral code during activation when I only had $5 - that was the one mistake I made. I could barely hear the rep and I think she said it was a good code, but later I checked my balance and there was no $10 credit. THEN I remembered the condition that I needed at least $25 on the account so I activated my $100 voucher and tried again to do the referral code thing with other codes I was originally given by the nice people on this board. None of them worked so I thought, hey people are giving out codes to more than one person. So then I got snippy on this board. Then I had correspondence with one nice lady and she promised me that she had not given out her code to anyone and that she just received it. When that code didn't work I got to thinking that there is something wrong with the system at speak out. Especially after reading Dan's thread https://www.speakoutwireless.ca/speak/referral-code-requests/referral-code-3/page-1/
I just got off the phone with the rep and asked if it is obvious to her if I have applied a referral code and she says it is clear that I have not done so yet. I also asked if I code have a code and she set me up. she says it is my first one which is true at least.
So I will get a referral code from a person I really know and try that and if it doesn't work, I can give SO that person's number and they can hopefully fix this for me.
Thanks for your understanding, everyone.

Hi Rob Luvale.. or fibb222ATshawDOTca... maybe I can trust you that you are not fibbing (not lying) even though your email address is fibb222. Your explanation appears to be true. You told me by email that you used my code (code number quoted in your email) and "Thanks" you said. BUT my code was used about a half hour before you used it and I told you to check your $$ balance because my balance did not show another $10 increase after you said you used it while the first person who used that same code and I noted a $10 increase. So I suspected that the *611 person might have spoken so softly that you just assumed that the used code worked ok. So I told you to check your balance because the code that you said you used was already used earlier. I also included a brand new code for you and you emailed me back that my new code was used, was not good, which is not true!!
So, either the 611 person is fibbing or there is miscommunication somewhere or are you trying to get back at Speakout?? Are you trying to get back at Speakout because the 611 person "misled" you by speaking so softly and you just assumed everything was ok and got mad when you found out it was not ok (nothing credited into you account) and at the same time are you mad because they didn't allow $5 to be used with the codes and wanted $25 instead? Likely I'm wrong in assuming that you wanted to get back at Speakout but lets hear it from you what actually transpired, what actually was said, between you and the 611 persons when you gave them so many VALID codes. What did they actually say each time you gave them a code... one after another? If unable to quote them directly, maybe words to the effect of what they have said would be ok.
Then we can figure out if it was that nasty, rude little *611 person again who tells you right off the bat (no checking the computer, just lazy) that the code is used, or you have no more codes left for the year....

By the way, HKBoi was the guy who asked for a code, got a code, used his code, and then kept asking for more codes and then saying that all the codes were useless when he couldn't get away with using so many codes for one phone !! (see elsewhere in the different pages of this forum) Was he trying to scam the system to get rich quick? Was he a sick f---? Was he a loser? Or weirdo? Collecting email addresses to send people his own codes??? All of the above?

I asked for a new code yesterday and by the time my friend received the code, it had already been used. I did not post the code anywhere, so no one should have known it. My guess is that someone called in and approximated the ref number (as it seems to just go up with each ref code request). I checked my balance and it did go up $10.

Yes your's was the code that I thought she had said was ok when I couldn't hear her very well and when I only had $5 on the sim because I had just activated the phone with her. I had my $100 voucher already but forgot about the $25 condition. JUST after I hung up with her and before I checked my balance for the $10 and before I remembered the $25 condition, I emailed you back and said that your code was good, I used it, and thanks (which is what I presumed I heard her say). Later that evening I didn't have the $10 credit on my account so I went to promo page, saw that I needed the $25 balance, realized it hadn't worked so I applied my $100 voucher and tried the referral thing again with other codes I was given that evening. I tried over and over again, asking for new codes on this site, and all were invalid (already used) even though I was assured by some that the codes were only given to me and just generated recently.
So here's the kicker!! My colleague at work actually referred me to Speak out so I said please get me a referral code and even though he only gave it to me, it was invalid within half an hour of him getting it - I called right away as soon as I got it from him.
So my theory is that because the referral codes are sequential people are guessing what they are and using them before they can be legitimately used.
I have nothing against speak out but I think if they generated their referral codes randomly, it would work a lot better.
Cheers
