He might have lied, replied "sent!" in the thread and then sent the actual email to deter others from sending codes.

If you have your reply email well written before a real request comes up, I don't see why you can't send a email out within seconds. All you need to do is to copy and past the email address.
Further more, if you are good at some Text Editing Program, you can write a Macro to clean up the email address automatically(the Macro won't work for all the emails, but most of them), that will cost you only one second. For the case 'l t w o n g (a t) u a l b e r t a . c a', it takes 1.2 second.

Just to clarify, I wasn't picked by the original poster, I was told that "someone else sent me a code first". I understand that sometimes it will take a while for your email to reach the other end's mailbox, this is out of your control(but reply post on the web is instant). I am fine with this.

If someone suggests 'First come first Served" should not be a rule for this forum, I won't again this, if that will give everyone a better chance.
