Hello
I believe I have found the holy grail of cell phone plans and phones
I am on speakout with unlimited internet
I use Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic with version 4 firmware:
-very good browsing experience with kinetic scrolling
-assisted GPS
-very good music experience with 3.5mm jack.
-very good texting with on screen keyboard.
-debranded from rogers
-$200 for phone
-sold speakout phone for $80
Very very happy right now.
I have went through many phone experiences but this tops them all.

Nokia phones are so awesome when debranded. I have a Telus E71 with all the feces Telus put on it removed. Apparently they were impossible to unlock. All that did was allow me to afford an E71! 😀 I had to send it to Toronto to get it hardware unlocked, but it was well worth the time, effort and cost.

I put my 10-year old son on Speakout.
It is much easier, way cheaper and I do not have to top up every month or so. I just put top-up $50 and last long since he does not use as much. just for emergency. PERFECTO !
In regards to Telus Nokia E71, yeah... I flashed it myself, but it has to be wired to unlock it. In Calgary, only one person can do it and it's not cheap either. But it is worth it.

I also am on Speakout with a 5800, and I agree it's a great match. I don't use the internet much, but I tried it for a month to play around. One thing I did notice is that some of the web sites (news, mostly) that I went to would time out on the proxy. I tried downloading Opera, but couldn't complete it due to a proxy error. Are they still having proxy errors?
Other than that, I agree. The 5800 is an awesome phone, even (or perhaps especially) for those of us who rarely use a phone. It's a replacement for my MP3 player, my PDA, my calculator, my GPS, and my camera, never mind the fact that it also makes calls.
Anyone considering one, just be aware that you have to set the phone to GPS only mode, since Speakout doesn't support the quad bands that Rogers uses. Not all 5800's are quad band, but mine is, and I think most of the ones sold by Rogers (ie. the ones showing up in the used stores) are.
