I would like to see is all the current/updated threads being in that list that was on the bottom of the page. It was easy to go in there and see what topics were recently being discussed.
Even worse, under the new software the red highlighting of recently-changed posts seems to disappear and reappear sporadically. That's probably a bug but it renders this new "feature" almost useless.

I do see "Most Recent Topics With Unread Posts" at the bottom of the main forum page whether I'm logged in or not. Is it still missing for you or are you referring to something else?

Again, something that seems to work for me... perhaps this changes based on whether or not you're logged in? I'll have to investigate further!

Hi the flagging of which forums have and which have not been read by the user is not updating as the others have mentioned.
In the old forum, if you clicked the "Forums" link at the top of the page, you got three lists -- in the same way you do now if you click "Consumer Forum"
The top area called "7-Eleven Speak Out Wireless" in the new forum showed which forums had new posts -- that looks different but seems to behave much the same. It flags forums with new posts whether you have seen them or not.
The lower area (called "Most Recent Topics With Unread Posts" in the new forum)used to group all the forums that had new posts since my last visit at the top of the group. If there were enough new posts to fill that space, all I saw were new posts. If there were only a few forums with "new to me" postings, the bottom of the section filled with all the forums with postings in descending chronological order. Once I clicked and read the posts they moved down to a chronolocical listing under the ones I hadn't read. Once I read all the forums, the list at the bottom reverted to a completely chronological list of the most recent postings. (that is consistent with my experience in other forums on other sites.)
The new forum stays in the chronological list regardless of whether I've read any new postings or not, and it is totally random whether the flag gets reset or not. So when I want to see the new posts, I can scan down the list to the first one with a flag saying I haven't read and click it to read it. When I return to the list sometimes the flag is reset sometimes it is not. The position on the page doesn't change whether the flag is set or not.
In the old forum the top of the "New Posts" area was always new postings I hadn't seen.
I'm assuming the revisions to the forum changed what type or what method by which cookies or othe tracking means were set as you browse through the pages. That may be something you changed, or something World Press changed in the forum software.
Re: "most recent topics" table -- I brought this up in the support forum for the forum itself and they said that the behavior of that table as a whole has not changed. They did say that there is a bug (which I semi-patched) that *might* cause a problem with that "unread posts" icon and that it would be addressed in the next minor release.
Re: text cutting off -- I did notice that in posts that have huge images, but I've now added a CSS rule to limit the width of images.
Re: the time on posts -- I finally moved this site to a different server. I have control over the time setting there, and have set it on PST (perhaps because I'm in Vancouver too ). I don't think the forum has a per-user timezone setting yet.

I don't think so.
This post is time-stamped 18:39 ("6:39 pm.") It's now 13:39EST here so the time-stamp is GMT, not PST.
I don't think the forum has a per-user timezone setting yet.
🙁

It's true, user-customisable is best. It's supposedly on the roadmap for the forum software. There's only so much custom code I want to write, as the "extension" system isn't so good -- most of the custom code has to be re-implemented every time I upgrade, which makes for an inefficient and painful process.
