In the past few weeks I've been looking for a new prepaid phone provider, and google gave me this site as one of the search result.
I've been comparing different plans and it seemed to me 7-11 is the best. (I'm a student at University of Waterloo, but my home is at Toronto) The problem with most other services is that calls from Toronto to Waterloo and back would be considered long distance, but according to the info on this site: https://www.speakoutwireless.ca/wp-content/uploads/long_distance_matrix_aug82008.pdf 7-11 counts it as local.
So I drove to 7-11 today (took me 1 hour to get there...), and was planning to buy the $100 prepaid card. Just to make sure, I asked the cashier before purchasing if calling from toronto to waterloo would consider local, and he said no, but he's not sure and asked me to call customer support. I called customer support and asked. She says only calls within the city are local. Calling to the number 226 (waterloo/kitchener extension) with a 416/647 number is not. So I got back empty handed thanks to this site.

Both the store celrk and customer service were wrong about this one. That grid is still good. Calls between Waterloo and Toronto are indeed considered local.

See where it mentions many areas in your province (not just city) are considered local calls?

"Are all numbers in my area code considered a local call?
Yes. SpeakOut Wireless offers a larger calling area than traditional Wireless service providers. In fact, many areas in your province are considered a local call. See the current SpeakOut Rates.
"
Clicking on Rates does not redirect to anything, I'm guessing it's already removed. The clerk can be wrong, but how can the customer support person be wrong?

Unfortunately, I have found some reps have misinformation, while others are unfortunately clueless. I'm not sure how much training SpeakOut gives it's customer service staff, but I have received totally different answers when asking the same question to their customer service department.

Yes, it seems that the link (to the table) is removed and I am thinking that you might be correct TT. Speakout may have indeed made recent changes to their policy.
The link with the grid works fine for me. It is not removed. Keep in mind it is a link that is a PDF file, so you must have a PDF reader installed n your PC to see it.

TT is referring to the link that is brought up after clicking on:
Are all numbers in my area code considered a local call? (in the faq)
This link does not work for me and I am able to open other pdf links just fine (including the link to the aforementioned table on this site)
Regardless, I am hoping that we are both wrong.

I can't see the pdf either (Mac with FF, Safari, Chrome). Is it possible to post it someplace?
I called customer service today and asked where my long distance boundaries are (416 area code). The rep had to look it up, came back and said 647, 289, 905, 519 plus one other. Basically from London through Oshawa. If true this is a great differentiator for SO.
