Speak Out Wireless in the USA just increased the 911 fee (without warning) from $1.25/month to a hefty $2.14/month. In Canada the 911 fee is $0.99/month. Speak Out USA and Speak Out Canada are both managed by Ztar Mobile.
Let's hope they don't increase the fee in Canada as well.

yeh - that would really tick people off - hopefully SO Canada made the decision to increase local calls from .20 to .25 (for $25 & $50 topups) whereas SO US decided to increase 911 rates - who knows what's happening in the background with each of their network carriers & cost structure. 🙂

That's true.
I know that Speak Out in the USA recently decreased their airtime rate to $0.15/minute (well before the 911 fee went up). That is a flat rate for local calls as well as long distance). I personally think that they increased the 911 fee to offset the airtime rate, because they knew they messed up by offering it too low.
