According to 7-11 website, the cell coverage is identical to rogers', but when I go out of the GTA area I never get any signal. I am wondering if anyone else has the same problem?

It can be spotty, but I haven't had many problems. Keep in mind it also depends on what phone you are using. Some phones are better at getting or holding onto a signal than others. Where out of the GTA do you never get a signal?

This site shows you where the Rogers (and other providers) towers are located across Canada:

I believe 2G coverage would be much wider as well.

i will be going to peterborough this weekend and will report back on my findings

but last year when i was in blue mountain and muskoka, i get no reception but others using rogers are able to make calls

so i felt perhaps 711 was not using the whole rogers network but rather just a subset (to keep cost low?)

I've been in Muskoka and Collingwood as well, and I've never had a problem getting a signal. Maybe the phone you are using isn't good at pulling in a signal. Use that link I gave you, and it will show the locations of the Rogers towers in the places you are visiting.
