What a horrid start to the service!
When I went to activate the phone- the service read the phone number so fast no normal person could write it down.
Then it disconnected me!
So now I don't even know what my phone number is!
So of course I phone customer service.
After 47 minutes on hold late on a Sunday night- they disconnect me.
Does customer service have limited hours (ie is it going to do any good to phone now at 11:44pm?
( I looked for the answer about customer service hours in these forums and on the official website- to no avail)
Now I am getting voice message that they are having technical difficulties !!!
Aaaaargghhh!!

Hi Guys!
Thanks for taking the time to give advice.
-Caller ID : not a option
- tried turning on the phone, ready to write down the phone number
and it did not show.
- tried pawing my way through the menu screens: no apparent area for my phone number.
Updates:
I did try customer service from 10:45pm until 1am to no avail!
I also sent them an clear and detailed email and got zero response.
These people are worse than Bell or Rogers and that takes some doing !!
Is there any link or area that clearly explains how to go the menu of a 1661 to get my phone number?
(BTW I am not in any way technically-minded and need things clear and simple)
Thanks again!

Updates:
LAST NIGHT: I tried customer service from 10:45pm to their 1am closing to no avail.
I also left a clear and detailed email- no response.
I really did try scrolling through my phone to find my number, but to no avail.
The manual was no help.
THIS MORNING:
I searched this forum for information.
U.S.A.?:
I phoned customer service just after 8am using the landline number on my paperwork 1-866-310-1023. I reached a customer service rep right away and outlined the situation.
He was pissed off because he was in AMERICAN customer service, but agreed to help get my phone number. I dismantled my phone and read some tiny numbers to him and he verbally read off my new cell phone number insanely fast ( just like the Canadian automated activation service).
I repeated that I need to hear the phone number in normal conservsational speed so that it could be copied.
After getting the number- I was transferred to Canadian Customer Service.
CANADA:
After a 12 minute wait on hold for Canadian Customer Service, I reached a helpful and patient person who answered questions about what was the correct Canadian customer service number ( as above- she theorized that " lines got crossed") and help activate my referral code ( provided in another part of this forum) and my $100 voucher ( plus bonus time).
She also noted and passed on a summary of all of the above problems.
I thanked her for her courteous and clear manner.

I realize that the OP has resolved their problem, but I just thought I would point out that I have this phone and while there is an option to see your own phone number, I had to enter it in myself when I did the initial setup. That is probably why they couldn't find it.

The 1-866-310-1023 is the number for the Canadian version of SpeakOut. It is listed right on the SpeakOut Canada site.

As for the customer service rep getting pissed, you probably talked to the same guy I did when I ported over 🙂
I told him I wanted to port a number to SpeakOut, and he said he can't do ports, only managers could do ports. I called back the next day, and talked to another rep. She did the port right away.
I think the first rep I talked to was just lazy 🙂

Yes the Ztar Ladies are Fantastic. Even though one got confused she transferred to another and problems was solved politely. I never had to talk to Laidas so don't know. Porting took exactly 28 hrs.
My CSR experience is Men are always helpful and women get pissed and take personally. Now I have one more call to make for my account PIN number I forgot. Will post the experience.
