If there is a way to set your phone up to block text messages, you may be able to block them from your phone, but since Speakout sends then out (how would they know how your phone is programed?) they would still charge you for them.
Plus if your phone blocks all texts, you will not receive a notice saying that you have a waiting in your voice mailbox.
I'd recommend calling Speakout directly and see what they can do.
If they can't block all texts, then there are other solutions. If you signed up for one of those services that sends you texts and charges you for them (the ones on late night crappy commercials), then there is a way to stop them (I think you can text the word STOP to their number, not sure though). If you are getting a lot of spam texts make sure you tell Speakout that, and if it's still bothering you, then you can ask them to change your phone number.
I'd be surprised if you are getting a lot of spam AND you haven't signed up for one of those rip-off services that charges you $1+ per text several times a day. Rogers/Bell/Telus have actually done a decent job in preventing text-spam (I only get one every couple of months). If you have signed up for one of those rip-off text services, then explain your situation to Speakout - I'm sure you're not the only one that didn't read the fine print on the tv screen.
When you call Speakout, try and be specific about where your texts are coming from. I doubt any cellphone company can block all texts, but the more info you give them, the more likely they can find another way to help you.
Note: If you do manage to block all texts, you should know that it's not like email. Your friends and coworkers may send you texts and they will just assume you received them since there is no way for the message to bounce back to them telling them you haven't received it.

I didn't want to start another thread on this.
Lately, i am getting a lot of SPAM messages from the same place.
Then number shows up as "+9900167" or "+9900112" and so on. On opening, all messages start with "" and go on something like "paulina la:fw: LA IMPORTANCIA YVENTAJAS DE COMER FRUTAS CON EL ESTOMAGO VACIO "
I can reply to that number (i have tried) since it isn't really a full phone number.
I called the speak out cust. service and the lady told me that they CANNOT block incoming messages.
"Can you block messages from just this number?"
"No, we cannot"
"Other providers can. Can't you?"
"Sorry, no"
"Are you sure?"
"Positive"
Thats it. I get these messages once every two days.
The only way left is to CHANGE MY NUMBER?? OR LEAVE SPEAK OUT??
Thanks.
