I called myself from a landline in my city to set up my voicemail and my number showed up on my caller ID as +1(area code)(number). Is this the standard way the caller ID works or does that mean it's coming through as long distance for some reason? The 7-11 in my city is on the outskirts of town which is the only reason I'm concerned at all.
Thanks so much for your help.

Another poster noted that he got charged International rates by SpeakOut because he dialed the + at the start of a phone number. Does this mean we need to avoid the + when entering numbers? That makes phone book maintenance less convenient, as well as replying to a call from the phone log, if we have to edit out the +.
