Hi,
My daughter currently has the Nokia 1616. She hates it. I want to get her a phone similar to the Nokai C3 but I've heard it it quite slow and a bit frustrating for a teen.
First I want to know if I can use the SIM card from the 1616 in any phone I buy off the shelf. If so do I have to do anything other than insert the card in the new phone?
And will all the features of the new phone work?
Now, does anyone have any suggestion on what phone I should buy. She probably would like and iPhone but I can't afford that . I have a limit of $200 - $250 for the phone and I don't want to be tied into a plan.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Any unlocked or Rogers branded phone will work with a Speakout SIM card. The SIM card is not tied to the phone, so you can use any unlocked, SIM based phone that works in Canada.
As for phone recommendation, the prepaid Bell branded Samsung Galaxy Gio seems to be the best phone for the buck, usually under $150. You would need to unlock the phone to get it to work on Speakout, but that cost $5 or so to do.
If you want data, you would need to program APN settings into the phone. Otherwise, SMS and voice work just fine.

Hi, Thank you so much for your suggestion.
I looked at some reviews of the Galaxy Gio and I think I will go with your suggestion.
I really am a neophyte when it comes to things like this.
Please tell me, when I get the phone how do I unlock it for $5.00?
Also I would like her to have data how do I program APN settings into the phone? And, when the APN settings are programed does this mean that she can connect up to wireless internet or can she also get internet when she is away from a wireless network?
Sorry for the basic questions.
