I want to setup my speakout number as skype caller ID a few days ago. But I never received the verification code SMS from skype. Skype customer service said that their system did send the SMS, it's because my telecommunications provider does not support SMS from Skype. Does anyone know about this? Actually I had setup this number as skype caller ID in 2008 successfully, Speakout canceled this now?

I just ran a quick test.
I am able to send an SMS from Skype to my Rogers Cell phone even though my caller ID for Skype is the same number as the phone I sent the message to.
I am not able to send an SMS from Skype to my SO phone whether the SIM card is in a 3G phone or a Nokia 1661 on 2G.
If I try to reply from the Rogers phone, I get a message saying that Skype doesn't accept incoming SMS messages.
So whatever is (not) happening is directly related to SO since it works on the mother network on Rogers.

I read the discussion. is this because skype sms is considered as international sms? But my speakout can receive international sms.

I just tried sending a sms to speakout from smartvoip - another voip product. It works well, even i can reply the sms to the caller ID that I setup in smartvoip. skype provides sms function and charges every time a sms is sent even the sms can't be received. It never mentioned and noticed it's users. That's unfair!

I am in BC as well. I have been tried 8 times since January 2011. Just hoping one day miracle could happen without caller ID feature, google unlimited US and Canada free call is a better choice than skype, just can't give up speakout! Does anyone know what's the problem between speakout and skype?
