Got a sim for the Motogo flip (from chatr). Activated successfully, but when I go to the validate your number to generate a text page, I don't receive any text. I want to add the new number to the account. Tried for over an hour and still nothing. Tried an unlocked iphone 3G. No text message too. The only text I received was when I first popped in the sim, it said press 1 to activate voicemail.
Is anyone else having any problems validating? I also had another number on my account which I'd rather use since it''s easier to remember. But that number is attached to a micro sim and the motoflip manual says not to use sim adapters. Would porting still work even if the number isn't visible in my account? Is the porting instant or does it take a few days?

Emailed them last night. Then called an hour ago. Speakout said they'll text me or call me back at my landline number. Any one else having any issues trying to generate a validation text? Is it because of the long weekend, the servers are hammered? They said there's no problems with the site.
Tried 2 different computers, and 4 different browsers. I have 3 other numbers on the same account and I received the text instantly; those 3 numbers were activated/validated last year though.
The only thing I haven't tried is activating a voucher. But how am I supposed to activate something if the number doesn't even appear on the account?

I'm having the same problem. I've tried different browsers too, no luck. I've confirmed that the phone can receive SMSs from other sources, just seems the validation text is not getting through for some reason. CSR said to check the message center settings (which are fine on my phone) so I've escalated. I'm on a Samsung SGH-T469W, so it doesn't seem isolated to one particular type of phone.

Spoke with 2 CSR's yesterday, one of them finally escalated the issue after I told them I tried everything. Tried generating a text again today, still doesn't work. Message settings are fine on my phone as well. Speakout's site is definitely buggy.
Hope more people here could chime in and get Speakout to fix their buggy site.

Hello,
According to the IMEI registered to your account online, you are using a
handset that is not supported on our network as it only offers 1900 Mhz.
In order to receive seamless coverage, your phone must be a GSM 850/1900
Mhz or HSPA device.
Please transfer your SIM card into another handset that meets the
requirements of our service so we can assist you further.

They take a while to respond too. I emailed them on Saturday. Needless to say, I'm not very happy with their response.
I have a micro sim that's not in use (validated last year). As a last resort, I'll cut out the regular sim and tape the micro sim to it. It kind of sucks the Motorola uses a regular sim.
I'd say keep calling them. I called them 4 times, emailed them once. I'd given up already. I might call them again if I don't have much luck cramming the "hybrid" sim into the slot

I'm new to speakout so I was wondering what the benefit of validating the phone is in the first place. Originally, I thought you needed to validate the phone to top up via a browser, but now I'm not so sure -- it looks like you can just enter the number of the phone you want to top up. Since you've validated other phones, why do you need to validate your new phone? What's the benefit?
The reason I ask is that I might just forget validation if it doesn't work. The phone works otherwise and serves its purpose.

Validating allows you to view your number online, minutes left, top up, and add add-ons without going through endless voice prompts on your cell.
Gifting the new phone for an older relative. I wouldn't want them to worry about topping up themselves which is why I want to validate it.
Got another call from Speakout; they said they'll escalate it to the manager, and they'll talk to the web programmers. The CSR also mentioned that there was some maintenance going on last Thursday or so, near the long weekend. Maybe that might have messed things up.
