With my Bell service, if I had my phone off and someone sent a text, I would get it once I turned my phone on again - even days later. Does SO do this too, or do I just never get the message, or is there a time limit that the system will wait?

Thanks!

From what I can tell, SO don't hold the messages and you still get charged for it too! I turned off my phone at the airport before I left on vacation and I know that my friend texted me at least once while it was off. By the time I came back (12 days later) and turned the phone on again, no text msgs were waiting for me and as far as I can tell, my balance was down.

Ah! That's what I was afraid of. I have my phone turned off all day while I am at work, and I'm pretty sure that I haven't received a whole bunch of messages....

My phone was off for 2 days, and I received a text from the day my phone was turned off.

It should also be noted that SpeakOut now does NOT charge anything for incoming texts, no matter where they are being sent from. ALL incoming texts are free.

Interesting...there must be a time limit (somewhere between 2 and 12 days) for how long "pending" text msgs are held.

You're right; it's different now. This all happened for me at the beginning of Sept before the free inbound texts change.

It may depend on your phone settings ( how long the phone itself stores a message ).
I have always gotten my messages upon turning my phone on. 😉

OTOH I sent an SMS from Skype to my SO phone yesterday and, though the phone has been powered on all the time, I still haven't received the SMS. (My Skype account was debitted for the call.)

Rogers claims to retry for 72 hours. That's consistent with what people have experienced.
