Hands free usage to comply with new Ontario law

Hi,

Does anyone know which SO phones, if any, will be able to comply with the new Ontario
hands free laws? I checked the Nokia 2760 and although it supports a bluetooth headset,
the phone doesn't have any voice command features, so you have to dial the phone by hand,
which will not comply to the new law.

Any suggestions. If none of the phones are compliant, I will be switching of SO after my
minutes are up. Too bad.

I can't answer your question about voice-commandable phones, but I am curious about how cell phone users will be looking to headsets or similar technology so that they can continue to make phone calls while they are driving, in compliance with the new law.

Since many Speakout customers are low-usage users, I would have thought that most of us were not in that group that is always on the phone, needing to talk anywhere, any time. So, forum members, if you are looking at hands-free options for your phone, is it because:
a) you need or want to initiate important calls while you are driving
b) you need or want to answer phone calls while you are driving
c) you like to chit-chat with friends to pass the time while driving
d) ???

My answer would be a) and b). I'm definitely not the chit-chat, but when you are making
and receiving short calls, you need the hands free (voice activating) more because of the dialing.

You don't have to get rid of SO service; you just need to buy a Rogers or unlocked GSM phone is compliant with the new laws. Then put your SO SIM into the new phone and you're good to go.

If you decide on buying a new phone try it with your SO sim card. I was not able to use it on a Samsung but it works fine on a LG and Asus phone

i cannot speak for other SO handsets but the one i have (Nokia 5130) has a auto answer setting.

i have it set up so when my phone bonded to a bluetooth headset or hands free device and someone calls me it will automaticlly pickup the call after 5 seconds of ringing (consult the manual on how to set this up)

i dont really dial out when im driving so that part is not an issue for me
